Extra Life 2015: 10am and We’re Done!

A Depressed Press SeriesPart 15 of 15 of Extra Life 2015

Extra-Life LogoI’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! Our team, The Vidiots, is done! 24 hours of gaming, goofing and doing good by sick kids!

We lost about half the team before the end, but enough of us made it we’re counting this a solid, if groggy, victory! As we approached the end, some of the punch drunk – but still conscious! – team members decided to celebrate with song.

Thanks to my lovely bride who went above and beyond to help us pull this off and all of my team members. We didn’t meet our fundraising goal, but still raised $393 to help the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals!

Extra-Life LogoI’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! Our team, The Vidiots, is 18 hours in and still playing! We cooked up some hot food to give everybody a little boost and a break from the salt and sugar.

We’re playing:

  • Two team members have dedicated themselves to a The Binding of Isaac mini-marathon.
  • The rest spent a few minutes reliving their childhoods by playing “Spongebob Squarepants” on the GameCube, then, surprisingly, abandoned it for an extended (and very loud) session of Scattergories.
  • The streaming of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin on the EatThatWontonSoup Twitch channel is on hold (the players have wandered over to the Scattergories game), but may start up again.

Extra-Life LogoI’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! Our team, The Vidiots, is 16 hours in and still playing! The team is getting something of a second wind after spending 30 minutes searching high and low for a missing cell phone (it was under the couch).

We also had our first casualty! It didn’t come as a surprise as this particular team member worked the night before (and is heading to work later today), but it still may be giving some of the other guys ideas. Sleepy, nappy, snoozy ideas!

Extra Life 2015: 10pm and We’re Getting Virtual!

A Depressed Press SeriesPart 11 of 15 of Extra Life 2015

Extra-Life LogoI’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! Our team, The Vidiots, could still use donations! We’re half-way in and a while a few are starting to flag, most are still going at speed! We’ve been playing:

Most interesting, one of the more industrious participants has taken it upon himself to construct a virtual reality headset from the old pizza boxes. Crazy thing is, it actually works. Kinda. Here are some pictures!

A Depressed Press SeriesPart 10 of 15 of Extra Life 2015

Extra-Life LogoI’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! Our team, The Vidiots, could still use donations! We’ve got some part-timers in now, and one of our starters had to leave, but we’re still going string.  We can always use more sick kids; they’re so inspiring! We’ve been playing:

  • We seem to have abandoned the Fallout 3 shopping cart collection, but are now streaming whatever the hell is going on to Twitch as EatThatWontonSoup!
  • The part-timers (a bunch of 13 year girls, so: LOUD!) have taken over the main TV and are having way too much fun with Hamster Ball, an oldie-but-goodie PS3 racing/maze/obstacle course… thing.
  • They then migrated to the table to play Apples-to-Apples and the (we’re told, smelly) boys pulled out the funky “Buzz” controllers and had some unexpected fun with Buzz!: Quiz TV.

Extra-Life LogoI’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! We’re eight hours in and going strong! Our team, The Vidiots, could still use donations! We can always use more sick kids; they’re so inspiring! It’s dinner time, so we decided on a stack of pizza and rousing game of Munchkin using way too many expansions!

Extra Life 2015: 2pm and We’re Singing!

A Depressed Press SeriesPart 7 of 15 of Extra Life 2015

Extra-Life LogoI’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! After subjecting ourselves to the horror that is “Pixels”, we’re back to playing! Our team, The Vidiots, could still use donations, if you like. We can always use more sick kids; they’re so inspiring! Since the movie ended, we’ve played:

  • More Super Smash Bros. Wii-U. This is going to be a near constant with this crowd.
  • PCs were doing even more The Binding of Isaac and HearthStone.
  • Our man playing Fallout 3 has decided that it’s his mission to move all of the shopping carts in the wasteland to the Super Duper Mart. Well, “mission”, may be a strong word; let’s say “hobby”, instead.

At some point it was also decided that every time anybody started to sing “Mad World“, everybody had to join in or face undetermined consequences:

Extra Life Movie Review: Pixels

IMDB, Pixels“Pixels” on IMDB

Sci-fi/Comedy, 106 Minutes, 2015

As part of our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon our team, The Vidiots, raised hundreds of dollars for sick kids and, as a unwarranted slap in the face, we made them watch this. They were protected, somewhat, by the portable games they were playing, but several still suffered terribly.
