The official streaming station.
16-bit hell with a Sega Genesis.
We decided to “keep it simple” this year. By “we”, I mean “me”, since we’ve been overrun by multiple full gaming rigs, multiple TVs, many new and classic consoles and hundreds of feet of wire.
We’re not really “organized”, but for now at least, you can catch a stream of some of the goings on at Kodyurem on YouTube, the channel of one of our team members.
Let us know if there’s something you’d like to see!
The Extra-Life 2017 Marathon is less than three weeks away! November 4th will mark our team, the Vidiots, fourth year of participation. In that time our team has raised over $2,000 to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Since 2008 Extra Life has raised over $30 Million for children. We welcome your donations and invite you to join our team if you’re so inclined!
We’ve got a PS4, a PS3, a small cabal of Nintendo Switches and an eager gaggle of classic 16-bit systems. We’ve got a tower of board and card games and Our Steam Link is ready to bring PC games to our TV and a proud, lonely PlayStation Vita stands united with a short-stack of Nintendo DS’s for private play. Controllers are charged and stacked like cordwood. Plentiful snacks are at hand! Caffeinated beverages are standing by!
Our Extra-Life 2016 Marathon is over! All told, with various breaks for jobs, prior engagements and at least one scheduled SAT exam, we had involvement from nearly twenty people and raised $873.55 to help sick kids!
Although the marathon is over, you can still donate, if you like! Please click on a team member to do so!
This year was more subdued than previous years, yet still a blast.
One of our team members did a complete run of the utterly Japanese “Robo-Chibi” on the GameCube.
The roll-heavy “Dicecapades” was a hit in the wee hours of the morning.
Our last-minute annex of the garage gave us some breathing room.
Studying.
Dawn breaking through the window.
At the end, we only had a handful of survivors, all muddling through rounds of the classic “Buzz!: Quiz TV” on the PS3.
We want to thank everybody that helped with this and hope to see them all next year!
We’re about four hours into our Extra-Life 2016 Marathon! There will be some drop-ins later, but we’ve squeezed 16 people into our home and raised over $800 so far!
You can still donate, if you like! Please click on a team member to do so! We’ve playing a lot of classic console games, portable games and board games. There was also an odd digression into completing somebody’s engineering homework…
We’re getting ready to kick off our Extra-Life 2016 Marathon! In a little over 12 hours we will be invaded by over a dozen teenagers. They will fill our humble home with the sights, sounds and smells (oh when do the smells stop?!) of charity! And gaming. Lots of gaming.
Our team have currently raised $634 for sick kids. You can still donate, if you like (please click on a team member to donate!) – we can always use more sick kids; they’re so inspiring!
Things got a little weird at the 23rd hour last year:
We’ve got a PS4, a PS3, a Wii-U, a regular-old Wii and an impressive tower of board, card and dice games. Our Steam Link is ready to bring PC games to our TV and a proud, lonely PlayStation Vita stands united with a short-stack of Nintendo DS’s for private play. Controllers are charged and stacked like cordwood. Plentiful snacks are at hand! Caffeinated beverages are standing by!
I’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! Our team, The Vidiots, is done! 24 hours of gaming, goofing and doing good by sick kids!
We lost about half the team before the end, but enough of us made it we’re counting this a solid, if groggy, victory! As we approached the end, some of the punch drunk – but still conscious! – team members decided to celebrate with song.
Thanks to my lovely bride who went above and beyond to help us pull this off and all of my team members. We didn’t meet our fundraising goal, but still raised $393 to help the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals!
I’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! Our team, The Vidiots, is 22 hours in and still playing! Well some of us are playing. We’ve lost more than a few. The survivors are still plugging along, but for how much longer is anybody’s guess.
The current champion got further in Undertale than ever before… and then died horribly.
We ended up on the PS3 for a while and sampled some of the smaller, quieter games like Rain and the amazing The Unfinished Swan. We also dusted off PixelJunk Monsters, a classic tower defense game.
Despite being nearly comatose, we ended having a great pass-the-controller session with the amazingly high-speed twitch game Race the Sun on PS4. This is exactly the kind of game that you don’t want to play with compromised reflexes, but we had a blast.
Here are some pictures!
This may not be the best place to have nodded off.

At least one of them had the sense to actually use one of the guest beds we set up.
I’m not-live blogging our Extra-Life 2015 Marathon! Our team, The Vidiots, is 20 hours in and still playing! Well, most of us are playing. We’re playing slowly and sloppily, but we’re still playing.
We’re playing:
More of The Binding of Isaac. They’re finding some really weird things in that basement.
